Description

The Koori Maternity Services program offers flexible, inclusive, culturally appropriate pregnancy and postnatal care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in Victoria.

The program was developed by the Victorian Government in partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO)External Link . It aims to improve access to culturally appropriate maternity care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and their families.

Koori Maternity Services are located in Aboriginal community controlled health organisations and public hospitals across Victoria.

Services provided

  • Antenatal and postnatal care by midwives and Aboriginal health workers
  • Health promotion
  • Breastfeeding support

Eligibility

Available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in Victoria.
